I come from a Portuguese family deeply rooted in agricultural traditions, where self-sufficiency and respect for the earth shaped everyday life. I spent a great deal of my chilhood under my grandparents’ guidance, helping run food scraps to the compost, feeding a flock of chickens, washing and prepping harvested produce, and seasonal upkeep of garden beds. Olá!
One of my favorite words is salubrious; it’s fun to say, audibly interesting, and inspiring to live by. Salubrious by definition means favoring to the health of the body or mind.
In recent years, nutrition has become louder but not clearer. The modern world makes everything food-related complicated, when true nutrition is quite simple and unsexy.
You won’t find me promoting trends of any kind. I’ve spent my career watching diets and fads damage and over-occupy eating. Crua Nutrition is an inclusive space where people can explore their relationship with food and make sense of nutrition again.
I support both people and the systems around them, with a strong commitment to sustainability and food systems that mutually nurture individuals, communities, and the environment.
With over a decade of professional experience across sectors in community nutrition and public health, I help people across life stages and health needs, from chronic disease prevention to wellness initiatives.
I’m particularly dedicated to perinatal nutrition (from preconception through the postpartum period), helping women and families feel nourished and energized as they navigate life’s most essential moments and build lasting habits that support future generations.
